Art by Suleiman Ahmed
I am inspired by the colours of life; the way we relate to it as human beings and our immediate environment. I really love vibrant, flashy, and dull colours. Capturing facials and
tonal graduation really gets me in the mood to execute my works.
Working mostly on canvas, paper etc., I transport my sketches to my surface by free-hand drawing, and sometimes scaling. I work with all grade of shading pencils with the help of a brush, tissue
paper, and ear bud; to be able to achieve my tones and shades. I convert my pictures to black and white scheme to help my work. ‘’If you don’t know the story, don’t Judge the Book . . . ”
Born in Accra, Ghana, Ahmed is a self-taught artist and is widely known for his vibrant pencil strokes. Working mainly on Charcoal, Graphite, Pencils, and Acrylic, his art is based on human
complexion and facial expressions with detailed concept. Ahmed describes his style of working as Realism.
