Jasmine Carolyn Hamilton, born 1984 in East Chicago Indiana is an American painter, sculptor, and illustrator . Studying at Moore College and Design in Philadelphia Pa, Jasmine majored in 2d illustration and 3d fine arts . Her influences are John Singer Sargent, Norman Rockwell , David Hammon , Faith Ringgold , Henry Turner , Giacometti , and Caravaggio to name a few
Her work often portraitures working class African Americans citizens whose emotional expressions and disposition reflect the social and economic conditions at which they live.
Jasmine has lived in Philadelphia for the past ten years. She has had shows around the city, but mostly has worked at after school programs teaching art to as risk youth at organizations such as Centro Nueva , The Village of Art and Humanities , Y-hep , Urban Tree Connection, WePac, to name a few .
Artist Statement: I am an Artist … if i wanted to be something else, my heart would still lead me to an empty page full of endless possibilities.
