Hurts was held out after an ultrasound discovered a blood clot in his calf, with the team still working through treatment and no clear timetable for his return. Tanner McKee made his first meaningful start in relief and went 26 of 45 for 215 yards and a touchdown, but Philadelphia fell 25-14 to Carolina. The loss dropped the Eagles to their fourth straight defeat, their first four-game skid since 2020.
New York pulled Winston in the fourth quarter after his second interception set up a Saints touchdown, turning the game over to McCarthy for his Giants debut. McCarthy threw for 243 yards and a touchdown in relief, leading drives that pulled the Giants within three points before New Orleans held on for the 34-27 win. The Giants have not said who will start under center next week.
Tennessee trailed 13-0 at halftime before forcing turnovers, blocking a punt for a touchdown, and getting a Cam Ward touchdown pass to erase the deficit. Indianapolis answered with a Jonathan Taylor score to tie it at 20, but Joey Slye’s 49-yard field goal with just over two minutes left gave the Titans the lead for good in a 26-20 win. It was Robert Saleh’s first victory as Titans head coach and snapped a six-game losing streak to the Colts.
Los Angeles was shut down in Kansas City, falling to 0-6 to start the season and remaining among the league’s winless teams as questions mount around coach Jim Harbaugh’s first year. Justin Herbert continued to struggle with turnovers, a problem that has plagued the Chargers’ offense all season. The Chiefs, coming off their bye week, improved to 5-0.
Hunter caught a touchdown pass and intercepted C.J. Stroud in the end zone during Jacksonville’s shootout loss in London, a combination accomplished by only a handful of players since the NFL-AFL merger, including Brian Dawkins and Roy Green. Houston escaped with the win on a late Ka’imi Fairbairn field goal, with Stroud throwing for 312 yards and three touchdowns in the 34-31 final.
Arizona’s offense stalled on five trips inside the red zone, settling for field goals each time as Chad Ryland went 6-for-6, capped by a 43-yard game-winner as time expired. The Cardinals won 18-16 over the Rams despite never finding the end zone, and Los Angeles’s final two-point try failed after a sack forced a fumble. Jacoby Brissett threw for 218 yards without a touchdown as Arizona leaned entirely on its defense and special teams to pull off the upset.
Tampa Bay was without starter Baker Mayfield, who has been sidelined since dislocating his thumb in Week 3, forcing undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels to start at quarterback. Daniels threw two interceptions but gave the Buccaneers a scare before Pittsburgh pulled out a 26-19 overtime win. The Steelers improved to 4-2 with the comeback victory.
